Tatum leads Celtics to Christmas conquest as arena receives Kobe hero worship

In a Christmas Day game, the Boston Celtics beat the Los Angeles Lakers 126-115 to make it two wins in a row. The win moved the Celtics to 23-6, making them the NBA leaders.

Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics romped under the twinkling lights of the arena to complete a two-game Los Angeles win streak with a 126-115 victory over the archrival Los Angeles Lakers.

Tatum, a self-proclaimed Lakers fan since childhood, unleashed his inner Kobe Bryant in the historic arena, formerly known as the Staples Center. He orchestrated the victory with a well-rounded performance of 25 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and a cap, leading a balanced Celtics offense that featured six double-digit scorers.

"It's a dream come true moment," Tatum exclaimed after the game, acknowledging the special feeling of playing in a building where heroes once ruled." I never take these moments for granted ...... Playing in a building where my idols used to play." While Tatum never played in the same building as the late Bryant, his reverence for the legendary star was evident in his performance.

This Christmas game was the third meeting between the Celtics and Lakers over the Christmas period, with Boston finally picking up its first win after two previous losses.

Aside from being a poignant victory, the win solidified the Celtics' dominance in December, as they went 9-2. Their only blemishes were losses to the Indiana Pacers and Golden State Warriors in NBA in-season play.

Looking ahead, the road looks smoother for the Celtics as they face the struggling Detroit Pistons (2 wins, 27 losses), Toronto Raptors (11 wins, 18 losses) and San Antonio Spurs (4 wins, 24 losses). They host the Pistons and Raptors, who are on a 14-game home unbeaten streak, while the Spurs, who have the league's worst offense and fifth-worst defense, are likely to win easily at home.

With a favorable schedule and current momentum, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics are looking to finish December with an impressive 12-2 record to firmly establish themselves as a team to be reckoned with in the NBA.
