Losing the core of the Grizzlies Ja Morant is out for the season, the team adjusts the lineup to find a way out

The Grizzlies have been hit hard! Morant is out for the season and the team is looking for a way out.

The Memphis Grizzlies have suffered a crushing blow as JaMorent will undergo season-ending surgery for a shoulder injury and miss all remaining games. This is a fatal blow to the Grizzlies, who have rekindled their playoff hopes after Morant's return.

Morant dislocated his shoulder during Saturday's practice and, after further examination, was diagnosed with a torn shoulder that will require surgery. That means he will miss Tuesday's crucial game against the Dallas Mavericks, as well as the entire remainder of the season.

Morant's absence puts the Grizzlies in a tough spot once again, as they need to find replacements for the tough schedule ahead. The team has already lost centre Steven Adams, who is out for the season with a knee injury, leaving only Desmond Bain, Marcus Smart and Derrick Rose, who is still recovering from a hamstring strain, available in the backcourt.

The Grizzlies have updated their depth chart and Morant's spot is temporarily vacant. The team could start Smart at starting point guard, as he did against the Suns while Morant was sidelined. Here is the likely starting lineup for Memphis:

Point Guard Marcus Smart
Point guard Desmond Bain
Small Forward Jaren Jackson Jr.
Power forward Brandon Clark
Centre Xavier Tillman.
If Smart and Bayne are unfortunate enough to get injured, the third option could be Derrick Rose, provided he returns in time from his hamstring strain.

Morant has performed well since the end of his suspension and Derrick Rose has praised his professionalism and contribution to the team: "He's a hard-working guy and I'm proud of him. I'm proud of him. He never complains, he's always on time for practice and shootaround, and he does everything he can to meet the needs of the team. I'm glad he's created realistic and safe spaces for himself, and look, nobody's heard anything negative about him, and that's what matters."

While the team has relied heavily on Morant's play before, now it just needs to face reality and find a replacement. If the rest of the roster can stay healthy and continue their current momentum, the Grizzlies still have a chance to compete for a playoff spot in the postseason.
